theion is a German startup for Sulfur Crystal batteries: sustainable, performant, competitive and safe. Sulfur is an abundant material, available without mining and a waste from other industries. With Sulfur as cathode material, which corresponds in state of the art to 35% to the total cost, we bring these cost down from over 20€/kg (NMC811) to 0.20 €/kg.

Combined with a Lithium Metal anode we are targeting 500 Wh/kg, bringing electric driving and flying to the next level.

Combined with Sodium as anode we are targeting cell prices below 40 €/kWh, and completely independent from Asian supply chains. A solution for storing renewable energies whenever and wherever is needed.

Our production processes have a low CO2 footprint, and can use 70% of existing cell assembly lines.

We are targeting to extend range, usage time and storage time by factor 2, and make batteries available to everyone.
